DETAILS OF UNDER GROUND CABLE WORK UNDER DGVCL


  • •    To provide better quality of power supply to town consumers, DGVCL has planned to replace overhead HT line in to underground cable network in all major Cities / Towns particularly in Surat area at first stage so as to compete with Torrent Power Co. which is having very conversant underground network. DGVCL has planned to provide underground cable gradually in next seven years.

    •    In the year 2012-13 we have planned to provide 200.0 Km Under Ground cable network at an estimated cost of Rs 32.00cr. And from the year 2013-2014 to 2019-2020 we will provide 2408 Km underground cable network at an estimated cost of Rs 385.28 cr. in phase wise manner as such for this project huge amount will have to be spent. The expenditure incurred for this planning to give reliable power supply to our existing consumers will be covered under our System Improvement Scheme or any other scheme in which no amount required to be paid by the existing lighting consumers. At the end of completion of this mega project total 11 lacs consumers will be benefited. At present we have selected only Urban feeders which are feeding power supply to our Residential and Commercial lighting connections. If any industrial consumer desires to have this facility they have to pay entire amount involved for the same.

    •    We are also providing underground HT cable where double circuit HT line is existing as well as at the location where HT line of two feeders are crossing each other. By doing this arrangement unnecessary switching off of one feeder while performing work on other feeder will be eliminated and interruption period will be minimized & also Accidents will also be reduced as safety point of view. The expenditure incurred for this will be covered under our System Improvement Scheme or any other scheme in which no amount required to be paid by the existing lighting consumers.

    •    During this year 2012-13 we have carried out 44 K.M. Underground cable work at an estimated amount of Rs.148 Lacs. to provide better quality of power supply.
